Spending The Night In The Forest With The Anak Dalam Tribe, Minister Nadiem Heard Complaints About Access To Education

JAMBI - Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Anwar Makarim spent the night with the Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) community during a visit to Jambi.

"I wear the Merdeka Learning T-shirt because we at the Ministry of Education and Technology believe that education is not only one form, but diverse, therefore learning must be independent," said Nadiem in a written statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, September 22.

The Minister of Education and Technology explained that each region has its own characteristics. For that, must provide appropriate education.

"Therefore, I am here to understand what is needed and what is not needed for people who still adhere to their local wisdom," said Nadiem.

Nadiem requested that the younger generation of SAD who are currently pursuing higher education should inspire other SAD youths.

“To the teachers who serve in the interior, I am very grateful for their dedication. Please pray for us to continue working to improve the welfare of teachers and mothers," said Nadiem.

The head of the Bunga Kembang Teaching and Learning Center (PKBM), Maknun, explained that access to formal education was still difficult, so his party provided an alternative curriculum.

“For example, the SAD community makes a living by selling resin, honey, and rattan. However, when the transaction price is not appropriate and they feel cheated. So, we teach our children to count," said Maknun.
