Update On COVID-19 As Of July 14: 1,591 Positive, 46,701 Suspect

JAKARTA - Government spokesman for the handling of COVID-19 Achmad Yurianto (Yuri) explained that there were an additional 1,591 confirmed positive cases as of Tuesday, July 14 at 12.00 WIB. The total number of positive cases became 74,018 people.

Yuri said that currently the government has eliminated the use of the terms patient under surveillance (PDP) and person under surveillance (ODP). Now, the term used is suspicion group. As of today, the suspect group reaches 46,701 people.

In the revision of the Decree of the Minister of Health regarding guidelines for the prevention and control of COVID-19 as a revision of the previous guidelines, there are a number of categories that fall into the suspect group.

"There are three criteria for suspected cases, including cases of acute respiratory infection. Where in the history of illness within 14 days before being sick, the person concerned comes from or lives in an area where local transmission has occurred," said Yuri at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Tuesday, July 14.

The province with the highest number of new cases today is East Java with 353 new cases and a total of 17,230 cases. East Java is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Then, the provinces with other high new cases are in DKI Jakarta with 268 cases and a total of 15,064 cases, South Sulawesi with 197 new cases and 7,294 total cases, South Kalimantan with 161 new cases and a total of 4,379 cases, North Sumatra with 130 new cases and total 2,497 cases, and Bali with 101 new cases and a total of 2,359 cases.

Of the 34 provinces that reported, there were 20 provinces reporting new cases under 10. Of these provinces, 5 of them reported that today there were no additional new cases.

"Provinces that report no new cases are West Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Lampung, Maluku and East Nusa Tenggara," he said.

Then, the number of patients who died per day increased by 54 people, to become 3,710 patients. There were an additional 947 patients recovered, bringing the total to 37,636 patients.

Furthermore, the total number of specimens that had been examined was accumulatively as many as 1,097,468. In detail, 1,069,950 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 27,518 specimens were examined using a molecular rapid test (TCM).

This examination was carried out in 161 active RT-PCR laboratories, 115 TCM laboratories, and 301 network laboratories. The rate of positive cases was 12.2 percent of all examinations carried out.
