Minister Karding Inaugurates 19 P2MI Admin Officials In Karawang Village Whose Residents Are 50 Percent PMI

JAKARTA - Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding inaugurated 19 administrators and supervisors within the Ministry of P2MI in an Indonesian migrant worker enclave in Karawang Regency, West Java, Friday, January 10.

"Many are asking, maybe the minister is imaging. This is deliberately done, so that all officials understand and live in the lives of migrant workers in the village, because we know that the source of PMI (Indonesian migrant workers) is in the village," said Karding, during the inauguration of environmental officials at the Ministry of P2MI, in Ciparagejaya Village, Tempuran District, Karawang, Friday, January 10, was confiscated by Antara.

For this reason, he chose to inaugurate officials including special staff of the Ministry of P2MI in the courtyard of the Ciparagejaya Village office, Tempuran District, Karawang.

"So the inauguration was deliberately held here (Ciparagejaya Village). I even stayed overnight. This is in order for us to be more soulful, to dive into the pulses of village life and culture that produce PMI," he said.

Along with this, it is hoped that officials within the Ministry of P2MI in compiling programs or activities can be related to the needs of the village community.

"How to empower the community needed, the protection needed, the skills needed. They can know officials. So it's not arbitrary to create programs," said the Minister of P2MI.

He gave an example, in Ciparagejaya Village, Tempuran District, Karawang, there are more than 50 percent of its citizens becoming PMI. In addition, there are also fishermen.

This is related to the existence of a new directorate at the Ministry of P2MI, namely the Directorate of Crew, Beginning of Fisheries and Commercial Crew.

"So we want to, because we are just managing this, we all see it closer to the village bases of fishermen and PMI," he said.

Regarding the crew, fisheries crew and commercial crew, he admitted that all this time the problem was that they had not left through the ministry or institution.

"In the past (the departure) they had their own permission through the Directorate of Sea Transportation (Hubla) of the Ministry of Transportation," he said.

He said that in accordance with the provisions, everyone who works abroad, in any sector, the category is migrant workers. This Indonesian migrant worker card was issued by the Ministry of P2MI," he said.

On this matter, in the future his party will collect data. So as long as the person concerned is registered, the protection is clear, the skills are clear and the work contract is clear. So it is hoped that there will be no problems while working.

"Because today's problem, it doesn't go procedurally," he said.
