Makassar City Government Accelerates COVID-19 Vaccination In 100 Neighborhoods

MAKASSAR - The Makassar City Government, South Sulawesi, has again promoted the COVID-19 vaccination acceleration program by carrying out 100.1100 actions in 100 Neighborhood Units (RT) in a number of urban villages throughout Makassar City.

"The enthusiasm was extraordinary. Earlier, in another place (vaccination), from the prediction of 100-150 people, it turns out that 300 registrations have arrived. This means that the enthusiasm of the community is extraordinary," said Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto (Danny Pomanto), quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 21.

Danny Pomanto hopes that the South Sulawesi provincial government will help provide vaccines in order to speed up the vaccination process in order to achieve Herd Immunity in Makassar City.

"We beg, God willing, the provincial government can easily back up the vaccine so that it runs out. God willing, we will finish the vaccine as soon as possible," he continued.

According to him, so far the availability of vaccines is still sufficient, and the stock of vaccines in the South Sulawesi Provincial Government is known to still have 560 thousand doses, so that with the availability of stocks, people can still get vaccines.

"For that, we asked for provincial assistance and I believe they have been contacted, and will backup when it runs out. The Head of Health has also contacted the provincial government to fully back up this program. The vaccine is only the first dose," said Danny Pomanto.

Regarding the technical implementation of the 1001.100 vaccination program, Danny said, it is a universal broom. This is because, so far, vaccination is only limited to the initiation, people come in one place, or the community is not based on their domicile address.

"Now, we want to comb through people who have not had the opportunity to vaccinate in the community, then give them from house to house with invitations. We give invitations similar to people inviting people to go to polling stations, so invitations to people who have not been vaccinated are invited to get married," said Danny Pomanto.

The system being implemented, Danny continued, all residents were given an invitation from the head of the Neighborhood Association (RT), so they felt honored to attend the vaccination invitation. In addition, this system will facilitate the monitoring of pandemics that have the potential to emerge.

"If there are still people who don't believe in the pandemic, we will make separate handlers, persuasively. We invite community leaders to come, because this problem is belief.

"So it is necessary to make sure that the vaccine is real, it is proven that everyone who has been vaccinated from the time the Delta variant arrived in Jakarta to here has not died, it is different for those who have not been vaccinated," said Danny Pomanto.
