Allegedly Lying To The Public, Lili Pintauli Reported Again To The Council By An Inactive KPK Employee

JAKARTA - Four employees of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) inactive reported KPK Deputy Chairman Lili Pintauli to the KPK Supervisory Board. This report was made on suspicion of ethical violations related to public deception.

"This alleged public deception is related to a press conference held by LPS on April 30, 2021 to deny communication with the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor M. Syahrial," said one of the reporters, Rieswin Rachwell, to reporters in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, September 21.

He said that Lili denied having communicated with Syahrial, who is a suspect in the bribery case of buying and selling positions in the Tanjungbalai City Government. However, through the ethical decision issued by Tumpak Hatorangan et al, the opposite happened.

Lili was found to have been proven to have communicated with Syahrial directly and was even said to have abused her authority as a KPK leader. "The LPS statement in the press conference clearly contradicts the decision of the KPK Supervisory Board," said Rieswin.

Lili's act of lying to the public, he said, was a separate form of ethical violation. In addition, this action is also considered to be degrading the dignity and prestige of the KPK as a corruption eradication institution that should be transparent and far from lying.

So, he and three other employees, namely Benydictus Siumlala Martin Sumarno, Ita Khoiriyah, and Tri Artining Putri, decided to submit a report to the KPK Supervisory Board. "We are ashamed that there are more leaders who violate the code of ethics at the KPK," said Rieswin.

"We are ashamed that there are leaders who are proven to have violated the code of ethics and still shamelessly lie and remain in office and do not resign," he added.

As previously reported, Lili was declared to have violated the code of ethics for abusing her authority for personal gain and meeting directly with the litigants, namely the Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial, who is a suspect in the bribery case of buying and selling positions.

As a result, the KPK Supervisory Board imposed a sanction in the form of a 40 percent reduction in basic salary for 12 months or Rp. 1.8 million from Rp. 4,620,000.

This decision is actually different from what Lili said in her press conference. He said he never helped handle the corruption case that ensnared M Syahrial.

"That I firmly say that I have never communicated with the suspect MS regarding the handling of the case in question, let alone assisting in the handling of the case being handled by the KPK," said Lili in a press conference, Friday, April 30.

He said, as a member of the KPK, of course, he was aware that he was bound by the code of ethics and rules. "However, as the head of the KPK, especially in carrying out prevention tasks, I certainly cannot avoid communicating with all regional heads," he said.
