Denying The Missing Health Worker Gerald Sokoy Found In Kiwirok, Danrem Izak Pangemanan: It's A Hoax, Still In Search

PAPUA - Danrem 172/PWY Brigadier General Izak Pangemanan denied reports that health worker Gerald Sokoy who was missing in Kiwirok, Gunung Bintang Regency was found.

"The news is not true or a hoax and the security forces are still searching for Gerald, who was dispersed from his colleagues while trying to save himself from the KKB rampage that attacked Kiwirok," said Izak as quoted by Antara, Jayapura, Sunday, September 19.

Admittedly, to this day the security forces are still searching but no sign of Gerald Sokoy's whereabouts has been found.

"We can only hope that Gerald Sokoy's condition will be fine and he will escape the brutal actions of the KKB which chased the health workers, abused them, and burned down various public facilities in Kiwirok," Pangemanan said.

From the reports received, said Danem 172/PWY, currently Kiwirok City has been controlled by the security forces and there is no KKB anymore.

Korem 172/PWY has added personnel from Infantry Battalion 715/Raider and Battalion 403/WP to assist security in Kiwirok.

"There is no protrusion from the KKB leadership of Lamek Taplo and his subordinates," he said.

Currently, there are 20 civilians still in Kiwirok, one of whom is a Papuan native (OAP), namely Yosefa Taplo.

Meanwhile, 83 other people who are OAP are suspected to be still hiding in the forest because they were afraid when KKB did arson and chased and abused health workers.

When asked when the plan to evacuate the bodies of Gabriela Meilan and non-OAP civilians, Danrem 172 PWY admitted that they were still waiting for the helicopter.

"Hopefully Monday, the evacuation can be carried out," he said. The KKB led by Lamek Taplo, last Monday, September 13, exchanged fire with security forces in Kiwirok and carried out arson and torture of health workers.

The health worker Gabriel Meilan died from injuries when he and his partner fell into a ravine. Gabriela Meilan's body is currently being held at the Kiwirok Koramil.
