Third Day Of Search, SAR Team Evacuated One Victim Killed KM Safina In Tanjung Pasir Waters

TARAKAN - A passenger victim of the KM Safina incident, Hamzah (34) was found dead by the evacuation team after the third day of searching.

"The joint SAR team has succeeded in finding the victim in a dead condition around the waters of Tanjung Pasir, Bulungan," said Head of the Tarakan Search and Rescue Office Amiruddin in Tarakan, North Kalimantan, Antara, Sunday, September 19.

Victim Hamzah from Toli Toli, Central Sulawesi was found at coordinates 3°14'50.22"U117°36'19.50"E, about 4.11 NM from the incident location to the north. Amiruddin explained that after being found, the victims were evacuated to the Tengkayu I Fishing Port, Tarakan.

"He was then taken to the Tarakan Regional General Hospital for an autopsy," he said.

After checking the similarity of the complainant who is the victim's family. Based on the initial information, the victim wore a pink dress according to the body found.

"Furthermore, the victim was immediately handed over to the family," said Hamzah.

The incident at KM Safina 2 started when a passenger with the initials T went on a rampage using a badik, resulting in five other passengers being injured.

A wooden cargo ship from Toli Toli bound for Tarakan, where suspect T went into a rage after refusing to be offered liquor and being insulted, sparked an argument and the incident occurred.
