2 Specialist Thieves Of Closed Cafe Due To PPKM Arrested

JAKARTA - The police arrested two perpetrators of theft specialists of a cafe business who often acts in the Medan Sunggal District, Medan City, North Sumatra, with the initials ABD alias Konang (39), and IRL (38).

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sunggal Police, Commissioner Adjutant Budiman Simanjuntak, said Saturday that the arrests of the two perpetrators were based on reports that one of the cafe owners on Ring Road street had lost a number of items in his cafe.

"In the victim's report, the cafe was closed while PPKM was in effect. The victim suffered a loss in the form of electronic items that were left at the cafe location," Budiman said as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

Based on the report, Sunggal Police officers conducted an investigation and received information on the whereabouts of the two at the house of the perpetrator Konang in Tanjung Rejo Village.

At the time of the arrest, the perpetrator's family tried to block the police officers by locking the door of the house.

"Officers sought a persuasive approach to the perpetrator's family, but still did not open the door, so they had to be broken into and we managed to secure both of them," he said.

From the suspect's house, the officers also secured evidence in the form of two speakers, an LP musical instrument, and a fiber box containing 94 LPs belonging to the victim.

"Officers also confiscated the tools used by the two when they broke into the victim's shop in the form of a screwdriver, a pair of pliers, and a Honda Beat motorcycle," he said.

For their actions, the perpetrators were subject to Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 9 years in prison.

"We urge that similar incidents do not happen again. We always prioritize the principle of presumption of innocence and the National Police Chief's Precision program in carrying out our duties," he also said.
