Kabareskrim Ensures Persecution Case Doesn't Hurt Investigation Muhammad Kece

JAKARTA - The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kabareskrim) of the National Police, Commissioner General of Police Agus Andrianto, confirmed that the case of persecution against Muhammad Kosman alias Muhammad Kece did not hinder the investigation of the blasphemy case that Kece was undergoing as a suspect.

Agus said Kece was immediately rushed to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital after the alleged abuse by Inspector General of Police Napoleon Bonaparte.

"Alhamdulillah, we have not hindered the fingerprinting process involved in the blasphemy case," Agus said as quoted by Antara, Sunday, September 19.

According to Agus, Kece was not seriously injured. This is based on the results of checking from the Kramat Jati Police Hospital.

"The day of the incident was immediately checked at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital," said Agus.

Agus emphasized that his party was investigating the case of abuse experienced by Kece at the State Detention Center (Rutan) of the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department after the incident.

It is proven that Kece has sent a Police Report with the number LP 0510/VIII/2021/Bareskrim.Polri on August 26, 2021.

"After the incident, the legal process started immediately. The fingerprints have been processed," said Agus.

According to information from the Director of General Crimes (Dirtipidum) of the Indonesian National Police-Criminal Investigation Department, Brigadier General Andi Rian Djajadi, three witnesses have been examined, all three of whom are inmates at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

As is known, Kece was arrested by the Directorate of Cyber Crime of the Police together with the Bali Police at his hiding place after a video of insulting religious symbols went viral on social media.

The arrest took place in North Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali, on Tuesday, August 24, at 19.30 western Indonesia time.

Kece was then flown to Jakarta for examination and detention at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit the next day.

After being arrested and named a suspect, Kece was then detained for 20 days starting from August 25 to September 13, 2021. Until now, his detention period has been extended.

The suspect is charged with Article 28 paragraph (2) and junto Article 45 a paragraph (2) can also be charged with other relevant regulations, namely Article 156a of the Criminal Code on Blasphemy of Religion, which carries a penalty of six years in prison.
