Kejari Garut Warns Fugitives In Corruption Cases To Immediately Surrender

GARUT - The District Attorney (Kejari) of Garut, West Java gave a warning to fugitives in corruption cases who had been running away to immediately surrender.

"I urge you to surrender yourself anywhere, we will pursue, search," said Head of the Garut District Attorney's Office, Neva Dewi Susanti, in Garut, as reported by Antara, Friday, September 17.

He said the Kejari Garut has a team called Tabur who is currently listing fugitives and conducting searches in various areas.

He revealed that the Attorney General's Office has a very wide network, not only domestically but also overseas who are ready to arrest fugitives.

"The prosecutor's office is not only in Indonesia, but we have networks abroad," he said.

Regarding the number of fugitives being handled by the Garut Kejari, Neva said his staff was still collecting data because they had to open case records that had been around for years.

Neva, who has only served for one month as Chief of the Attorney General's Office for Garut, asked for time to examine one by one those who are currently fugitives.

"We'll check again one by one," he said.

During her tenure as Head of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the woman managed to arrest two fugitives in corruption cases for years. The first corruptor was arrested on September 9, 2021, namely a former member of the Garut DPRD for the 2001-2004 period, Misbah, who has been a fugitive since 2008 or has 13 years related to the case. corruption in the budget for eating and drinking and official travel within the Garut DPRD.

Misbah was arrested by the Garut Kejari Tabur team at his home in the Pangatikan sub-district, who had previously fled to avoid officers from city to city, until finally returning to Garut.

In addition to former members of the Garut DPRD, there is also a fugitive contractor Tohidi who has 12 years of corruption cases in the construction of a Fish Auction Place in Cilauteureun, Garut Regency in the 2005 budget year with a state loss of Rp. 599 million from a total project of Rp. 1.1 billion.

Tohidi was arrested by the Garut Kejari Tabur team in Subang Regency, whose whereabouts were detected because he filed for divorce from his wife to the Subang Religious District Court.

The Garut Kejari team, who detected his residence, immediately arrested him and brought him to Garut to take responsibility for his actions.
