Remember Promises To The People, Vice President Ma'ruf Asks The Ministry To Work Hard To Reduce Poverty In These 7 Provinces

JAKARTA - Vice President (Wapres) Ma'ruf Amin has asked ministries and non-ministerial government institutions (K/L) including local governments (Pemda) to work hard to solve extreme poverty in 35 districts in seven priority provinces.

The target for solving extreme poverty must reach zero percent by the end of 2021.

"For 2021, extreme poverty alleviation is focused on seven provinces representing 2.1 million people (extremely poor). Of course this is a very difficult task, considering that 2021 will end in three months," said the Vice President while chairing a joint limited meeting. a number of ministers and heads of institutions, at the Vice President's Palace, Jakarta, Antara, Wednesday, September 15.

Eradication of extreme poverty in seven provinces is part of Indonesia's target of reducing extreme poverty to zero percent by the end of 2024.

"This target has become our promise to the community. Therefore, I remind you again that we must work hard to ensure that the target is achieved," he emphasized.

The seven provinces whose extreme poverty levels will be resolved by the end of the year are West Java, Central Java, East Java, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, Papua, and West Papua.

To ensure efforts to reduce extreme poverty, the Vice President will visit seven priority provinces and hold dialogues with regional heads in 35 priority districts.

Also attending the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono and Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Siti Nurbaya.

Furthermore, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Abdul Halim Iskandar, and Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo.
