JAKARTA - The budget for the implementation of Formula E, which is planned to be held for 5 years by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, is still being debated at the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

The PDIP and PSI factions view that Anies cannot sacrifice the APBD to realize Formula E. Therefore, they have proposed the right of interpellation to question the certainty of the plan for the electric car racing event.

However, the chairman of the PKS faction of the DKI DPRD, Achmad Yani, revealed that the budget for implementing Formula E in the future will no longer use the APBD. DKI will follow the recommendation of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) to seek sponsors from private parties.

"Actually, there is no problem. So, in the future, the implementation of Formula E to pay the commitment fee will not use the APBD anymore. According to the BPK recommendation, we ask PT Jakpro to look for sponsors," Yani told VOI, Tuesday, September 14.

Currently, the DKI Provincial Government has disbursed the APBD of almost Rp1 trillion. In detail, the payment of a commitment fee for 2 terms paid in 2019 was 20 million pounds sterling or equivalent to Rp360 billion, a term 1 commitment fee in 2020 was 11 million pounds sterling or equivalent to Rp200 billion, and a bank guarantee of 22 million pounds sterling or Rp423 billion.

Until finally, the payment of the commitment fee was postponed by Anies due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Anies still has to pay the Formula E commitment fee in term 2 2020, the 2022/2023 session 26.6 million pounds sterling, and the 2023/2024 session 29.2 million pounds sterling.

Considering that the pandemic situation is still ongoing, Yani said Anies plans to pay off the unpaid expenses for organizing Formula E, which will be borne by third parties or the private sector.

Therefore, Yani asked the public not to worry about the size of the Formula E budget.

"There are a lot of people who don't understand the problem of formula E. So, people shout as if everything is using the APBD," said Yani.

"Yesterday, it used the APBD, but it was in the 2019 budget. In the future, there will be no use of the APBD because it involves the private sector," she continued.

Yani said she was optimistic that DKI could get a sponsor so that Formula E could be implemented. Because, she considers that there will be many benefits that can be achieved by Jakarta, both from an economic and social perspective.

"This can raise Jakarta and Indonesia at the world level. There are many benefits, there are also multi-effects, such as many participants who come, so that hotels and tourist attractions can sell. The economy is also stretched," she concluded.
