PAMEKASAN - The Pamekasan Police, East Java is investigating a case of alleged corruption in the Bhinneka Karya Cooperative with a total value of Rp. 5.4 billion.

"There are five administrators who are reported to have committed criminal acts of corruption at the Bhinneka Karya Cooperative and we are currently investigating," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pamekasan Police AKP Tomy Prambana, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 13.

Tomy explained that the case was investigated by the Unit Idik IV of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pamekasan Police. Officers began to examine some of the cooperative's management, one of which was the reporting witness with the initials BH.

He said that on September 8, BI was investigated by the Pamekasan Police Corruption Team to provide information on reports of alleged embezzlement of money at the cooperative.

BH came to Unit Idik IV Corruption Satreskrim Pamekasan Police with a number of documents of evidence. To investigators, he revealed evidence in the form of Bhinneka Karya Cooperative financial balance documents that have been falsified from year to year.

In his report, he and 400 members of the cooperative who suffered losses demanded that the management of the Bhinneka Karya Cooperative be responsible for the loss of IDR 5.4 billion due to the actions of the irresponsible management.

According to him, the modus operandi of the five individuals was to create fake balance sheets and use the names of other members in the loan records.

Separately, the Treasurer of the Bhinneka Karya Cooperative, Bambang Irianto, confirmed the alleged corruption report.

"It is true, and some of the cooperative's management have been questioned, including me," he explained.

Bambang is not one of the five names who were reported to have embezzled the cooperative's money of up to Rp5.4 billion. He even admitted that he was a victim because his name was used as a cooperative money user.

"In fact, I have not borrowed money from the cooperative so far," he explained.
