DKI Pemprov Resumes Land Acquisition For Normalization Of Kali Angke

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will continue the land acquisition for the river normalization program. This year's normalization program was delayed for several months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This time, the river normalization is on the west side of Jakarta, to be precise the Angke River flow in Kelurahan Kedoya Utara and Duri Kosambi, West Jakarta.

Head of DKI Jakarta Water Resources Agency, Juaini Yusuf, said DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria finally agreed to pay for land acquisition at a nominal agreed upon by the land owner so that the normalization project could be accelerated.

"We (were) constrained by land acquisition. Therefore, the Deputy Governor gave directions to immediately settle the areas that we have not paid for," Juaini told reporters, Thursday, July 9.

Juaini said that the land acquisition for the normalization of Kali Angke would be carried out at the latest this August. There are eight plots of land that will be acquired soon this year with an area of around 300 square meters per area.

After the land acquisition is completed, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing can now undertake the normalization work through the Ciliwung Cisadane River Basin Center (BBWSCC).

"There are eight plots that we are ready to pay for. The widths vary, some are 300 square meters and others. Later there will be an appraisal price (estimated, red). But at that point, the land we have not paid for reaches 8,000 square meters. will coordinate with the Ministry of PUPR, "said Juaini.

Previously, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that this normalization was accelerated to minimize the handling of Jakarta's floods when the rainy season arrived. Moreover, when the river overflowed, many areas in West Jakarta were affected by flooding.

"In accordance with the governor's directive so that we can accelerate, prevent and handle floods in the DKI Jakarta area," said Riza.

Riza said that in the normalization of Kali Angke, there were several acceleration steps. Starting from land acquisition, construction of sheet piles and polder systems which are carried out in collaboration between the Central Government and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government both for financing and technical work.

"Later when it has been freed and built, God willing, the residents here will be free from flooding. This is now when the tide rises, it floods. Earlier in Kedoya Utara too, every full moon he feels floods for at least one week. Hopefully in the future later after being built in the next few months there will be no more floods, "said Riza.
