Called As Giving Bribes To Former KPK Investigators, Azis Syamsuddin's Wealth Reaches Rp100 Billion

JAKARTA - The name of the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, was dragged into the vortex of the case of former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju. In several cases of Stepanus, Azis intervened.

In fact, during the trial, Azis Syamsuddin, who is also a Golkar politician, is said to have given bribes of Rp3 billion and US$ 36 thousand to Stepanus.

This award is related to the bribery case in Central Lampung which is currently being handled by the KPK. Later, Azis was said to be involved in the bribery of Tanjungbalai, M Syahrian, and the case of the former Kutai Kartanegera Regent, Rita Widyasari.

Then how much is the wealth of the Golkar Party politician?

Through the State Administrators Wealth Report (LHKPN) which he reported on April 22, 2021, he was recorded as having a wealth of Rp100,321,069,365 and not registering debt ownership.

Details of his wealth, he has 7 land and building assets, 6 of which are in South Jakarta and 1 in Bandar Lampung City. The total assets reached Rp89,492,201,000.

Next, he recorded assets in the form of transportation equipment and machinery worth Rp3,502 billion. In the report, Azis owns a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle worth Rp170 million.

Then he was recorded as having a Toyota Land Cruiser in 2008 worth Rp700 million; 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser car worth Rp1,590 billion; 2018 Toyota Alphard car worth Rp780 million; 2016 Toyota Kijang Innova with a value of Rp248 million; and a 2018 Honda Beat motorcycle worth Rp14 million.

Still in the same report, he also recorded other movable assets worth Rp274,750,000 and cash and cash equivalents worth Rp7,052,118,365.

During the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court with Stepanus Patujju as a defendant, it was revealed that Azis' role was not only giving money. He is also suspected of being the mouthpiece of potential corruption suspects with Stepanus who is the case broker.

Azis is said to have introduced Stepanus to the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial at his official residence on Denpasar street, South Jakarta in December 2020. From that meeting, Syahrial then gave money to Stepanus to stop the investigation into the alleged bribery of buying and selling positions.

In addition, Azis also played a role in introducing Stepanus to the former Kutai Kertanegara Regent Rita Widyasari before the money giving was carried out.
