Moeldoko Accused Of Being Involved In Democrat Anniversary Event In Tangerang, Darmizal: That's Slander

JAKARTA - The statement that the Chief of Presidential Staff General TNI (Ret.) Moeldoko was involved in the BLB version of the Democratic Party Anniversary event in Tangerang, Banten, Friday, September 10, is a slander.

This was confirmed by HM Darmizal MS, one of the leaders of the Deli Serdang Democratic Party Extraordinary Congress (KLB) group when contacted by Antara in Jakarta, Saturday, September 11.

"(Slander) is an act that is not commendable, unethical, uncivilized, and does not practice healthy democracy," Darmizal said, as quoted by Antara.

The polemic began when a number of KLB members held an event to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Democratic Party at the JHL Solitaire Hotel Gading Serpong, Tangerang, last Friday. However, before the event took place, a number of administrators of the DPP of the Democratic Party and the DPD of the Democratic Party of Banten Province removed the attributes and dissolved the activity together with the police.

When contacted by the DPP of the Democratic Party in Jakarta, last Friday, the activity was illegal. The reason is taking names and using party attributes illegally.

On the other hand, Darmizal, who represents himself as the representative of the DPP of the Democrat Party KLB Deli Serdang, said that the activity was an attempt by a number of parties to straighten out the historical facts of the establishment of the Democratic Party.

"The anniversary activities in Tangerang, Banten, are purely the activities of the founders of the party that rectify history," said Darmizal. He explained that the anniversary of the Democratic Party falls on September 10 as stated in the party's founding deed.

He also regretted the disbandment of activities in Tangerang. Darmizal called the action immoral.

Darmizal then forwarded a message from Moeldoko asking all parties to practice a healthy democracy and not to play slander.

So far, the DPP of the Democratic Party, led by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) could not be directly contacted for a response.

The Democratic Party has celebrated its 20th anniversary in a limited way at the JCC, Jakarta, Thursday 9 September, which was also attended by 10,000 of its cadres virtually. During the event, a number of party leaders and public officials also congratulated. Including Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin.

Regarding the results of the KLB and the Democratic Party dispute, Menkumham Yasonna Laoly at the end of March 2021 had rejected the proposal to change the management list and AD/ART submitted by the Deli Serdang KLB.

Currently the group recognized by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the General Elections Commission so far is the Democratic Party led by AHY.
