JAKARTA - A former employee of Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS), the Singapore Wildlife Reserve, has been charged with 107 corruption charges involving more than S$2.4 million.

Chong Peng Wee Barry, also known as Danial Chong, is suspected of taking bribes from several people over 11 years, from 2005 to 2016, as reported by Channel News Asia, Friday 10 September citing the Bureau of Corruption Practices Investigation (CPIB).

The bribe was strongly suspected as a reward for Danial for protecting and 'advancing' the business interests of various companies with WRS. Chong, 54, used a S$15,900 bribe to buy a 2013 Rolex watch.

His former colleague at WRS Chin Fong Yi was also charged on Friday with a similar case. Chin, 44, is accused of receiving more than S$50,000 over five years and a Chanel wallet from two men linked to construction company Shin Yong Construction.

Chin is suspected of taking bribes for not reporting that the construction company had bribed Chong. He also deliberately did not supervise the work of the company.

He faces 16 other charges for using more than S$33,000 of the money he received from the two to buy branded bags, shoes and jewellery.
