Deputy Governor Of DKI: Cinema Operations In Jakarta Still Being Considered

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that related parties are still considering the operational plan for cinemas in Jakarta. However, it has not been confirmed that it will be opened yet.

"Cinema is currently being considered, discussed, and discussed, but it has not been opened yet," said Riza at the Jakarta City Hall, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 9.

For the opening of the facility, which is included as a recreation area, Riza said, the right time and moment will be sought.

"The opening is looking for the right time and moment. So at this time there has been no decision when it will be opened," said Riza.

Previously, it was rumored that cinemas would resume operations starting September 14.

The chairman of the Indonesian Cinema Management Association, Djonny Syafruddin, confirmed with a number of notes.

"That's true, but like this, cinemas are not the same as other entertainment venues, which were announced today that they may operate, so tomorrow they will open immediately. Meanwhile, we need time," Djonny said, last Wednesday.

Cinema entrepreneurs need time to prepare considering the requirement to enter a cinema is increased by one, namely "screening" potential audiences with the PeduliLindung application, so cinema workers must know how to do this.

"First, we have to check the stock of any films that are ready to be shown. Second, the preparation of the building with the facilities. Third, the procedure for scanning the barcode through the Care Protect application," said Djonny.

He said the third condition is absolute because it must be reported to the relevant parties. Regarding filtering the audience with the Peduli Protect application, Djonny has no problem and is supportive.

"We support it because after all the health and safety of the community is the main priority," said Djonny.

However, Djonny emphasized that the plan for cinemas to reopen on September 14, 2021 has yet to be confirmed.

"This should not be considered 100 percent valid because there is no black and white. We are still waiting for confirmation until September 13, 2021. However, we continue to prepare ourselves," said Djonny.
