KENDARI - An old man who is suspected of having committed fraud with the mode of withdrawal and doubling of magical money was arrested by the Regional Police (Polda) of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra).
The Director General of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, AKBP Bambang Wijanarko, said the perpetrator, an old man with the initials S (50) was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, September 8th.
"The arrest of the perpetrator was carried out in relation to an alleged fraud case with the practice of withdrawing magical money," he said in Kendari when he released the disclosure case, reported by Antara, Thursday, September 9.
He conveyed that the perpetrator, a resident of Landono Village, South Konawe Regency (Konsel), Southeast Sulawesi, was arrested by police from the ranks of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police who allegedly carried out the action since 2016.
The suspect was arrested in a hut in the middle of a rice field in the Konsel area which was allegedly used as a ritual for withdrawing magical money.
"When the search was carried out, evidence was found that the person concerned had the ability to withdraw magical money, for that a ritual was needed, in carrying out this ritual the suspect asked the victims for some money to be used for rituals," he said.
The perpetrator confessed to his victims with the lure of being able to make magical money withdrawals through a ritual that was carried out.
Regarding this case, the police have examined eight of the 14 witnesses who are also victims of the fraud with a total money that has been deposited with the suspect amounting to Rp230.8 million.
"We are also still waiting for the other six victims," he said.
From the suspect's hands, the police managed to confiscate two pieces of evidence of counterfeit Rp2,000 bills, a laptop, printer, incense and incense as well as other ritual materials.
