JAKARTA - The Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas) at the National Police Headquarters, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, stated that the fire case that killed 41 people in the Class 1 Tangerang prison was under police investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya.

He emphasized that he would disclose to the public the clarity of the fire case that hit Block C2 of Class 1 Tangerang prison.

"Everything will be revealed, will be examined by parties who can clarify this problem. Anyone will be investigated so that this issue can be made clear," he told reporters, Thursday, September 9.

According to information, the prison that burned was a narcotics prison. However, the Police have not been able to predict the cause of the fire that crushed Block C2.

"Not yet, we are still investigating. We must not assume. We will entrust the investigators with the results of the investigators. Later the public will know.

While being asked about the chronology of the fire incident, whether the doors of Block C were all open or not, Brigadier General Rusdi was reluctant to answer. He only said that his party was still at the stage of conducting an investigation regarding this incident.

"It will be examined later, how it happened, at the time of the incident how the blocks will be part of the investigation. This is still an investigation process," he added.

The police asked for time to be able to uncover the deadly fire incident that caused 41 prisoners to be burned to death.

"Ask the investigators to check first, then they will reveal everything. Just be patient, the public will get clarity later. This case is handled by the Polda Metro Jaya," said Brigadier General Rusdi.

Meanwhile, regarding 8 seriously injured inmates and 73 lightly injured inmates who are still being treated at the hospital, they will be under strict guard from the police.

"There is security at the hospital that handles it. Later the regional unit will be able to read how many personnel are securing this seriously injured victim. (There are) procedures for handling prisoners," he said.
