Thousands Of Branded Alcohol Confiscated By Police From 2 Warehouses In South Jakarta

JAKARTA - Setiabudi Police Chief Kompol Beddy Suwendi said the liquor (alcohol) that he had just disclosed, in addition to being sold offline, was also sold online.

Kompol Beddy said, there were thousands of bottles of alcohol of various types which he got from a storage warehouse on Jalan Tiong, Setiabudi, South Jakarta.

"There are 58 types of alcoholic liquor brands that were confiscated. In total there are 1,918 bottles of local and imported liquor," he said when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, September 8.

The police chief detailed that the illegal liquor warehouse was a distributor with a fairly wide range of sales. The owner sells the alcohol to small retail alcohol kiosks in Jakarta.

"The liquor is sold at retail and online as well. The liquor is stored in two rented plots which are used as warehouses," he said.

As previously reported, the Head of the Setiabudi Police, Kompol Beddy Suwendi, raided a warehouse for illegal liquor (alcohol) for rent in the Jalan Tiong area, Setiabudi, South Jakarta.

From these raids, hundreds of bottles of various types of alcohol were confiscated and secured by the police to be used as evidence.

In addition, the police also arrested a man with the initials G (42), the owner of a warehouse for illegal local and imported liquor brands along with evidence of hundreds of alcohol.

"The perpetrator and the evidence were taken to the Setiabudi Police Headquarters to undergo further investigation," he told reporters, Wednesday, September 8.

The raid began with the police's suspicion that many residents were going in and out of the place carrying plastic packages. After investigation, it turned out that the place was used as a warehouse for illegal liquor sales.

"We found that there was a lot of unlicensed alcohol, dozens of cardboard boxes containing whole bottles of alcohol were secured by the police in this raid," he said.
