JAKARTA - A bus containing a group of poor citizens who will participate in the vaccine was reportedly intercepted by an officer of the DKI Transportation Agency in front of ITC Cempaka Mas, Central Jakarta. The group was about to be vaccinated at the Sheraton Media Hotel Jalan Gunung Sahari, Sawah Besar.

Chairman of the Jakarta Citizens Forum (FAKTA) Azas Tigor Nainggolan said the group was blackmailed by two Dishub officers who intercepted the group.

"The two Jakarta Transportation Agency officers forced to ask for Rp500,000 in money. If the driver does not give the Rp500,000 to the officers, the bus will be towed (towed) by the Jakarta Transportation Agency," he said in an open letter circulating on Whatsapp Group (WAG). ), Tuesday 7 September.

The bus driver finally gave Rp. 500,000 according to the request of the two Dishub officers. In fact, he said, the bus passengers had explained and informed that the group were poor people who wanted to get vaccinated. But the two Jakarta Transportation Agency officers didn't care and continued to force the driver to extort IDR 500,000.

"This extortion clearly violates the law and must get strict sanctions from the Jakarta Provincial Government. Obviously this extortion is very embarrassing and hurts the hearts of the poor because it is done openly in front of a group of poor people," he said.

He asked the Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Lipunto, to take firm action against his two subordinates. Because the alleged extortion, he said, was very embarrassing because it was carried out in front of poor people who were about to be vaccinated.

"Strict action must be taken transparently and we are included as witnesses that decisive action has been taken and given to the Jakarta Transportation Agency officer who blackmailed our bus driver," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Lipunto, promised to follow up on the information.

"I will immediately check this report, sir," he said. Separately, the Head of Traffic Division of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service, Rudi Saptari, said that the alleged extortion was under the handling of the Central Jakarta Transportation Sub-dept.
