PPKM Extended Again, PDIP: Handling COVID-19 Is On The Track

JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives Rahmad Handoyo, assessed that the government's policy in handling COVID-19 was on the track or according to plan. Along with the extension of the leveled PPKM until 13 September.

"One of the indicators is that COVID-19 cases continue to fall," said Rahmad in Jakarta, Tuesday, September 7. It is known that the second wave of COVID-19 spread in Indonesia began in mid-June 2021 and reached its peak in mid-July. At that time, the addition of daily cases could be more than 40 thousand. Then on July 3, the government limited the mobility of the community with the policy of implementing restrictions on community activities (PPKM) which continues to be extended to this day.

The decline in COVID-19 cases began to be seen in August 2021. In fact, the last three days the daily addition of COVID-19 cases continued to be below 10 thousand. Then, data on September 4, 2021 showed 6.7 thousand new cases, September 5 there were 5.4 thousand cases, and on September 6 there were 4.4 thousand new cases.

Patients recovered had reached 90 percent. Currently, the national hospital occupancy ratio stands at 19 percent. This PDIP politician assesses that these achievements are the result of appropriate policies and the support of the entire community. It's just that the government's homework that still needs to be done is to reduce the death rate.

“I think the government's policy is 'on the track' and in accordance with the common desire. Many doubted it before, but the people and the government work together, hand in hand with patience," he said. According to him, the public should not be complacent about the recent decline in COVID-19 cases. Because cases could explode again if people ignore health protocols.

"Because this number is still unstable. America was down, then exploded again. I think we need to maintain vigilance against COVID-19," he said.

“We need to remind that PPKM is to save the whole community. So we need patience,” said Rahmad.
