Ministry Of Health Ensures Sufficient Stock Of Drugs To Handle COVID-19

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Health (Wamenkes) Dante Saksono Harbuwono said the stock of drugs to deal with COVID-19 was sufficient. In fact, the stock of drugs is now safe and can be well distributed to the regions.

"To date, the availability of drugs nationally has been sufficient. We hold daily meetings, local governments have made purchases through the APBD," said Dante in a press conference broadcast on the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries' YouTube, Monday, September 6.

The availability of this drug can also be monitored online. "And we monitor the availability is sufficient," he said.

In addition to drugs, Dante also said that his party was also paying attention to the supply of oxygen in the country. This was done because during the recent spike in cases, oxygen demand increased dramatically and even exceeded production capacity.

When the pandemic escalates, continued Dante, the need reaches 2,725 tons a day. "In fact, the national oxygen producer's capacity is 1,700 tons a day. Because of that, we are very short, so we carry out various modifications," he said.

There are also various reinforcements carried out by providing and installing oxygen concentrators in a number of hospitals. Next, Dante also mentioned that 133 oxygen generators have been installed so that it is hoped that oxygen production can be carried out in each province.

"We hope that 50 (oxygen generators, ed) will be installed in 2021 so that all provinces have them," he said.

"So, all provinces have (oxygen generators) and if there is an increase in cases that require a lot of oxygen, it does not depend on supply from the center," concluded Dante.
