JAKARTA - Netizens have just been shocked by the leaking of President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) COVID-19 Vaccine Certificate, which is allegedly accessed using a NIK that has been circulating on the internet, through the PeduliLindung application.

According to Cyber Security Expert Alfons Tanujaya, the data leak incident should be used as a lesson for those responsible.

Because according to Alfons, NIK and Indonesian population data have been leaked a lot, and not a few people have suffered because of it.

"In fact, the moment of the leak of our President's data is good to be used as a lesson. If the general public's data is leaked, the response is usually slow. Some even try to deny the data was leaked under various pretexts," said Alfons to VOI, Friday, September 3.

Alfons explained, this was triggered by PeduliLindungi which forced the desire to use population data, while hacking was also vulnerable to occur.

"PeduliLindungi insists on using population data which in fact has been leaked a lot as credentials to check Vaccine Certificates," said Alfons.

However, Alfons admitted that by using the NIK, access to PeduliLindung is quite easy, but he reminded that it is not comparable to the security that the Indonesian people get.

"But remember that security is always inversely proportional to comfort. So if it's easy and comfortable, it will tend to be insecure," said Alfons.

This is evident from Jokowi's leaked NIK, and can be used to access information on the President's Vaccine card in the PeduliLindung application.

Finally, Alfons also hopes that the government can continue to be responsible for Indonesian population data, and ensure its security with double protection. For example, a verification system can use facial recognition technology or special credentials.

"It doesn't have to be complicated. Just create a special credential (for) the PeduliLindung application," said Alfons.
