DKI Gets First Place In The Most Democratic Province For Four Years In A Row

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta is ranked first nationally for the 2020 Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) released by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The IDI value of the city led by Anies Baswedan is 89.21.

Head of the National Unity and Political Affairs Agency for DKI, Taufan Bakri, said that Jakarta had managed to maintain the position of the most democratic province for four consecutive years.

"Alhamdulillah, with this score, IDI DKI Jakarta Province won the good category. This is because of the support of all parties so that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can maintain the first position with the value of the democracy index that continues to grow," said Taufan in his statement, Friday, September 3.

Taufan explained, the IDI value of DKI Jakarta in 2020 experienced an increase of 0.92 points compared to 2019 which was 88.29. Previously, the IDI value of DKI in 2018 was 85.08 and 2017 was 84.3.

There are three aspects that are assessed in calculating the IDI value. The first is the aspect of civil liberties, the second is the aspect of political rights, and the third is the aspect of democratic institutions.

In the future, Taufan said that the DKI Provincial Government will try to continue to achieve a good category in the democracy index by maintaining democratic values in social life in the DKI Jakarta area.

"To be able to maintain this good thing, of course we need the support of all parties and all components of society. Let's work together to keep Jakarta safe and democratic," he concluded.
