BOGOR - The Bogor Regency COVID-19 Task Force, West Java, deployed 300 joint personnel to oversee the odd-even system in the Puncak, Cisarua and Sentul areas starting Friday, September 3.

"The implementation itself will begin after Friday prayers, with an estimated 300 combined personnel," said Head of the Bogor Regency Satpol PP, Agus Ridhallah, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 2.

According to him, the joint personnel consisted of members of the Satpol PP, the Department of Transportation, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and the TNI-Polri.

The hundreds of joint personnel were deployed to several vehicle checkpoints during the implementation of the odd-even test which took place over two weekends.

Meanwhile, Bogor Police Chief AKBP Harun said there were seven points that became the location of vehicle inspections during the odd-even system trial.

The seven checkpoints are the Ciawi Toll Gate, Simpang Gadog, Rainbow Hills, the Cibanon flow closure post, the Dam flow closure post, and two locations in the Sentul area.

In the odd-even trial, every private vehicle whose license plate does not match the even or odd number on that date will be reversed.

However, there are a number of types of vehicles that fall into the category of exceptions for implementing the odd-even system, namely fire engines, ambulances, medical personnel, TNI-Polri service vehicles, public transportation, online transportation, and logistics transportation.

Harun said the odd-even option was carried out to minimize vehicle density in the southern area of Bogor Regency, as happened on August 28-29 2021, after the status of Bogor Regency was reduced from level 4 to level 3 in the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

The reason is, over the weekend, there was an increase in the number of vehicles in the Puncak area by 40 percent or around 38 thousand vehicles.

Regent Ade Yasin previously said the traffic engineering trial was effective in handling vehicle density, so his party would make a legal umbrella for strengthening in the long term.

"We will try it first. We will see the response of the community, if it leads to improvement, we will ask for a legal umbrella. The trial is also while socializing," he said.

Ade Yasin emphasized that in addition to having to comply with the odd-even rule, motorists who want to go to the Puncak Area are also required to show proof that they have been vaccinated.
