School Children May Enter, Governor Khofifah Asks Ministry Of Health To Send Sinovac Vaccines

JAKARTA - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa asked the Ministry of Health to send more Sinovac vaccines to his region as an effort to accelerate vaccination of students.

"We have also coordinated so that there can be more dropping of Sinovac, because sometimes we get certain vaccines in very large quantities, but also for certain segments," said Khofifah on the sidelines of reviewing the vaccination implementation at Khadijah High School Surabaya, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, September 1.

According to him, currently the need for students can be maximized so that those sent to East Java are vaccines that are suitable for children aged 12 to 17 years.

Accelerating student-based vaccination, he said, was also carried out as part of the limited and gradual Face-to-Face Learning (PTM) process which began on Monday, August 30. The number one person in the East Java Provincial Government emphasized that efforts to accelerate student-based vaccination in East Java must continue to be carried out and the regents/mayors, Health Offices, and Education Offices in the regions to maximize them, especially for 12th grade students of SMA/SMK/MA and SLB.

"This is important considering that grade 12 students must immediately make a learning leap to the university stage. Meanwhile, Vocational High Schools immediately make adjustments to the needs of the business world, industry and the world of work," he said.

Governor Khofifah conveyed that as of August 31, 2021, based on the Minister of Home Affairs Number 38 of 2021, there were additional districts/cities in East Java which experienced a decrease in level from the previous level 4.

"Currently, there are only nine regencies/cities in East Java which are still level 4. As of the same date, there are 29 regions where it is possible to conduct limited PTM," he said.
