SULTENG - A number of areas in Palu City, Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) were flooded due to the intensity of heavy rains on Friday, April 25 at around 15.30 WITA.

"The rain that flushed for hours caused river water and drainage to overflow, submerging residential areas and public facilities," said Head of the Central Sulawesi Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Akris Fattah Yunus in Palu, Friday, April 25, as reported by Antara.

He revealed that from the assessment carried out by his party, Tondo Village, Mantikulore District was affected by flooding where water inundated a number of roads, triggering long traffic jams.

In addition, the residential area and the Undata Palu Hospital (RS) were also affected by the overflow of water.

"The rapid reaction team is conducting an assessment in the field," he said.

It was reported that the flood-affected areas, namely Manticulture and West Palu Districts, are currently being handled by the local government.

"We ask residents to remain calm and don't panic, always update information from the government," he said.

He also appealed to the public to be careful when doing activities outside the home, temporarily avoid roads with shady trees.

It was also reported that Kabonena Village or around the Gaza Strip road, Trans Sulawesi road or in front of the Central Sulawesi Police Headquarters, Tondo Village, Yos Sudarso Street, Talise Village, around Silae Village, around Jalan Basuki Rahmat, South Tatura Village, Cemara Street, Donggala Kodi Village, and around Manonda Inpres Market were flooded.

Then a fallen tree occurred in front of Alkhairaat Hospital, including on Jalan Moh Yamin or in front of the Palu Mayor's Office (Walkot).
