Puput Tantriani Becomes Suspect At KPK, Deputy Regent Proposed As Acting Regent Of Probolinggo

SURABAYA - East Java Provincial Government appointed Deputy Regent of Probolinggo Timbul Prihanjoko as Acting Regent of Probolinggo. Timbul replaces Puput Tantriana Sari who was named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"We have prepared a Decree (SK) for the appointment of the Deputy Regent as Regent of Probolinggo," said Head of the East Java Provincial Government Administration Bureau, Jempin Marbun, confirmed, Tuesday, August 31.

Timbul's appointment as Acting Regent of Probolinggo is in line with the determination of Puput Tantriana Sari as a suspect in the alleged corruption case of buying and selling positions within the Probolinggo Regency Government. The appointment of the Deputy Regent, continued Jempin, has been approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"We have approved the recommendation letter that we submitted to the Minister of Home Affairs," he said.

The recommendation letter, he said, would later serve as the basis for East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa to appoint the deputy regent of Probolinggo as Plt. It is planned that this afternoon the Decree of the Acting Regent of Probolinggo will be handed over by the Governor at the Grahadi State building.

In accordance with Article 65 of Law 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government, it is stated that regional heads who are detained are prohibited from carrying out their duties, and deputy regional heads are appointed as Plt. Currently, the Deputy Regent of Probolinggo is Timbul Prihanjoko.

Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named 22 suspects. Apart from Puput, the husband of the inactive Probolinggo Regent was also named a suspect, namely Hasan Aminuddin. Hasan is a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Nasdem Party Faction. Previously, Hasan had served as Regent of Probolinggo for two terms.
