Judge Confirms East Jakarta District Court Decision, Son-in-law Rizieq Shihab And Director Of UMMI Hospital Still Sentenced To One Year In Prison

JAKARTA - The panel of judges of the DKI Jakarta High Court upheld the verdict in the first instance for Rizieq's son-in-law, Habib Hanif Alatas, and the President Director of the Bogor UMMI Hospital, Andi Tatat, with a prison sentence of one year. The verdict is related to the case of the results of the swab at the UMMI Hospital in Bogor.

"(Case) Number 208 (defendant) dr. Andi Tatat, the public prosecutor demanded that the defendant be sentenced to 2 years in prison. Then the East Jakarta District Court sentenced him to prison for 1 year and this is what PT DKI confirmed", said Public Relations of PT DKI, Binsar Pamopo Pakpahan told reporters, Monday, August 30.

"Meanwhile, the defendant M. Hanif Alatas by the public prosecutor was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the East Jakarta District Court, it was decided to be sentenced to 1 year in prison, which was upheld by the DKI High Court", Binsar continued.

However, regarding the aggravating and mitigating considerations of the panel of judges, Binsar could not comment much. Because they have not received a copy of the decision.

He said the consideration would later be uploaded to the official website of the DKI High Court and given to the East Jakarta District Court.

"If the consideration is in the decision and it can be uploaded and even requested by the East Jakarta District Court, today we have directly sent the case file to the East Jakarta District Court", he explained.

On the other hand, Binsar also stated that if both parties were not satisfied with the judge's decision, they could file an appeal to the Supreme Court. So, there will be a trial process.

"If you object to this decision, of course, you will file an appeal to the Supreme Court", Binsar said.

Previously, the Jakarta High Court panel of judges also upheld the first-degree verdict for the defendant Rizieq Shihab in the case of the results of the swab at the Bogor UMMI Hospital. So, Rizieq was still sentenced to four years in prison.

"Yes, the panel of judges upheld the verdict against Habib Rizieq Shihab", said Rizieq's lawyer, Ichwan Tuankota.

In the first instance verdict, Rizieq Shihab was found guilty in the UMMI hospital swab case. Rizieq was sentenced to four years in prison.

In that case, Rizieq was declared to have violated Rizieq's Article 14 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Law Regulations Jo Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
