Reviewing The XX Papua PON Venue, The National Police Chief Ensures Security And Health Procedures

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo conducted a direct visit to Papua to ensure security and implementation of health protocols during the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) which will be held in October 2021.

Together with the TNI Commander, Marshal TNI Hadi Tjahjanto, and Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali, Sigit directly checked the implementation of health protocols (prokes) for athletes, officials, spectators, and other related parties.

"This really must be considered, the implementation of the health protocol discipline for athletes and all parties involved," said Sigit, quoted by Antara, Saturday, August 28.

The National Police Chief asked all ranks of the TNI and Polri to prepare a security strategy for the success of the four-year sporting event, so that it can run safely, peacefully, and smoothly from all forms of disturbance.

According to him, the security strategy in all XX Papua PON sports arenas must be prepared by security personnel starting from ring one, ring two and ring three.

"TNI and Polri personnel must prepare security for the implementation of the PON, maximize the existing strength," said Sigit.

The National Police Chief said that the implementation of PON XX needs to be prepared with extraordinary steps. The strategy for handling and controlling COVID-19 for all related parties must be carried out from the time of departure, arrival, and while staying during the match.

Participants of PON XX Papua, said Sigit, must do a COVID-19 test within two or three days before traveling to Papua.

"Reduce physical contact with other people for 14 days before departure. Prepare a list of names of people who are in close contact to be validated by COVID-19 officers PB PON XX. Implement health protocols according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, including changing masks every day or cloth masks with two or more layers three," Sigit ordered.

Sigit also emphasized the strengthening of 3T (Tracing, Testing, and Treatment) as a COVID-19 control strategy, as well as accelerating the mass vaccination program.

To that end, the National Police Chief instructed TNI-Polri personnel to assist or synergize with the local government (Pemda) in accelerating mass vaccination, in order to accelerate the target of achieving 'herd immunity'.

Sigit said he would prepare places for vaccination in schools targeting students and parents. And, in places of worship for the community. In fact, later, the acceleration of vaccination will also be 'door to door' to the district level.

"The TNI-Polri together with the regional government continue to accelerate vaccination to reduce the risk of the COVID-19 pandemic. This step requires the synergy of all elements of society. In preparing a vaccination strategy, including vaccination attacks, vaccination booths, mobile vaccinations, and 'door to door' when stock is available in large quantities," concluded Sigit.
