Arrested For Growing Marijuana, This Man In NTB Admits To Police To Treat Liver Disease

NTB - The Operational Team of the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Police succeeded in uncovering the cultivation of cannabis plants in the Teloke Hamlet, Batulayar District, West Lombok Regency.

Director of Narcotics and Drugs at the NTB Police, Kombes Helmi Kwarta Kusuma Putra Rauf, said that the perpetrators tucked marijuana plants between the plants, a rice field area of 12 acres (1,200 square meters).

"The position of the cannabis plant is hidden, covered with sweet potato plants. There are 11 cannabis plants", said Helmi in Mataram, Antara, Friday, August 27.

This finding originated from public information. The police then followed up and searched the Batulayar area. Finally, the perpetrator can be identified.

"From that information, the team conducted a field investigation and found a two-story house suspected of being a cannabis plant cultivator", he said.

During the operation on Friday, 27 in the morning, the police met the owner of the house with the initials BT aka Bob (52).

"It turns out that the members' intentions have been read by the perpetrators", he said.

Without giving up resistance or trying to escape, the perpetrator also showed the location of his marijuana cultivation which was on the second-floor area.

"From there, 14 pots and polybags were found which contained 22 cannabis plants. There was also a packet of rice paper containing marijuana leaves", said Helmi.

To the police, Bob admitted that the second floor of his house was used for the cultivation of cannabis plants. When the growth began to grow, Bob then moved the plant to the field.

To the police, Bob also admitted to growing this marijuana to treat his liver disease. But because of the success and the many plants that thrive, Bob is tempted to make it a business field.

"He admitted that he started growing marijuana a few months ago. He confessed that he had only harvested one time", he said.

Furthermore, now the police have arrested Bob and detained him at the NTB Police Headquarters. All evidence has been confiscated.

Regarding the origin of the planting seeds, the police are still developing the field.

Because of his actions, Bob has now been named a suspect for violating Article 111 Paragraph 2 and/or Article 114 Paragraph 2 of Law No. 35/2009 on Narcotics.
