Because Of PPKM, Street Artists Choose To Voice Through The Wall

JAKARTA - Teddy, Head of RT 005, said that the murals of social criticism that read 'We are hungry for God' and 'The only thing that can be trusted from TV is the call to prayer' on the wall of an empty land on Jalan Kebon Kacang, Tanah Abang, in fact, it does not interfere with the activities of local residents.

According to Teddy, so far he has not received any reports from local residents.

"I think it's an ordinary mural. I've never even noticed it either, it's just a cursory thing. The writing is also ordinary, really," said Teddy, Thursday, August 26.

However, he supports the cleaning of the mural as has been done recently in other areas.

"Nowadays, mural deletion is rampant. Yes, we will follow it, if the government forbids it, then it is prohibited," he said

Based on the observation at the location, under the mural 'The Trustworthy From T Only Adhan' is written Kuas Rusak Project as the community responsible for the mural.

When journalists tried to find and contact the Kuas Rusak Project admin on Instagram social media, the owner of the account directed them to contact the admin of the Resistance Wall account.

The account admin said the mural was made by four artists last week. Their purpose in making the mural was to voice the concerns of the people, without the intention of insulting or provoking anyone.

"This mural does not contain elements of racism, insult or provocation. It only speaks to represent the people's unrest. Because of PPKM, we cannot gather together, let alone demo, so it is better for us to speak through the walls," he said.

The deletion of the mural that they made was regrettable. In fact, according to them, murals have colored city walls, including in Jakarta.
