Yahya Waloni Arrested By Police, Once Viral Accidentally Hit A Dog Because Of Unclean

JAKARTA - The police arrested the preacher Yahya Waloni in the Cibubur area, East Jakarta, Thursday, August 29 today. Yahya Waloni is suspected of committing blasphemy against religion.

Long before the public was excited about this arrest, Yahya Waloni often sparked controversy in the public sphere with his controversial lectures. Once, Yahya Waloni bluntly accidentally hit a dog on the road.

Yahya Waloni's statement was broadcast on the Hadith TV YouTube account on Saturday, February 13, 2021. In his lecture, Ustaz Yahya Waloni admitted that he had hit a dog when he was around the border area between Riau and Jambi, precisely in Kemuning District. It all started when he wanted to go to the lecture location.

On the way Ustaz Yahya Waloni who was driving saw a dog. Then, he accidentally hit the dog until his leg was limping. The reason he crashed was because the beast had uncleanness.

"I also hit a dog, I don't know who it was. He ran with a limp. If the goat was still I braked, but I saw a dog, I shot the one in front of me unclean," he said.

This statement received strong reactions from the public. Head of Animal Defender Indonesia Doni Herdaru said that dog saliva is indeed unclean in Islam, but that doesn't mean it can act cruelly against the animal.

"Keep in mind, that it is in Islam that dogs are unclean but there is no reason to be cruel to them," said Doni.

"In Islam, there are good ways to overcome najis if we are exposed. It does not mean that what is unclean must be eradicated and persecuted," he asserted.

Bareskrim Polri arrested the preacher Ustaz Yahya Waloni. This arrest is suspected to be related to a case of alleged blasphemy against the Bible.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, confirmed the arrest of Yahya Waloni. He was arrested while at his residence in the Cibubur area.

"That's right (Yahya Waloni was arrested). The person concerned is secured at his residence," Argo said briefly.
