The Police Will Not Apply Restorative Justice In The Case Of Muhammad Kece, The Reason Has Divided The Nation

JAKARTA - The National Police stated that they would not prioritize restorative justice in the case that ensnared Muhammad Kece. The reason is that the alleged blasphemy case is considered to be able to divide the nation.

"If we look at the problem with the Constitutional Court, the Police are committed if there are actions that disrupt diversity, disrupt the Kamtibmas situation, divide this nation. Of course, the National Police will be firm against these behaviors," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono. told reporters, Thursday, August 26.

The police will continue to process Muhammad Kece according to the applicable rules. Moreover, the settlement of ITE cases that prioritize restorative justice is only in cases of minor crimes.

"Including what has been done by the suspect in the Constitutional Court (no restorative justice)," said Rusdi.

In addition, Rusdi also appealed to the public not to continue or distribute the videos made by Muhammad Kece. This is because criminal penalties can be applied to people caught doing so.

"Yes, of course it is like that, yes, those who redistribute information that will create a hostile situation in society. In an illegal way. By illegal means, of course it is a crime," said Rusdi.

"Therefore, the National Police appeals to the public for videos that have caused an uncomfortable atmosphere in this country not to be re-uploaded," he continued.

Muhammad Kece was arrested in his hiding place in Banjar Untal-Untal, Dulang Village, North Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali Province. He was alone in the hiding place.

Currently, Muhammad Kece has been detained in the state detention center (rutan) of the Criminal Investigation Police of the Indonesian National Police. He was temporarily detained for the next 20 days or until September 13.
