Mayor Of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi Apologizes Grandma Sumirah Wasn't Touched Help: I Was Wrong

SURABAYA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi apologized for reports that Sumirah's grandmother who lived alone in Surabaya had not been touched by aid. The city government is called Eri Cahyadi who must be held accountable.

He ordered all civil servants Surabaya City Government to come down to reach the entire community.

"Please come down, look, don't ever start today again in the Surabaya City Government there are poor people, Surabaya city government officials don't know. That's why it rotates, it's surrounded by the area", said Eri Cahyadi firmly.

"I am sorry. Grandma Sumirah is already under the handling of the Surabaya City Government", he added.

In a virtual briefing, Wednesday, August 25, Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi asked his staff in the Surabaya City Government, East Java, to be active in the community, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"From all of that, I only want one thing, which is to want all city government officials to make the people happy", he said.

Through this briefing, Mayor Eri wanted his staff to create a comfortable, warm, happy working atmosphere, free to innovate and full of responsibility. In this way, it is hoped that all staff in the city government can work optimally for the benefit of the residents.

Mayor Eri explained that if all his staff worked wholeheartedly, they were comfortable and free to innovate. Thus, more and more ideas and innovations are emerging to overcome various problems that occur in the City of Heroes. In fact, he also asked all ranks not to just sit behind a desk, but to actively participate in the community.

"I ask all of you for help, maximum work is not because of wealth or throne. But sincerely working as a practice of Jariyah (good deeds)", he said.

To become a leader, he continued, one must be able to solve problems quickly and precisely. For him, a true leader is a leader who can think about, protect and make his people happy.

Therefore, Mayor Eri Cahyadi has repeatedly emphasized that a leader must have a humanistic nature, be good at communicating and be full of innovation.

"Get out of your comfort zone. Change the way you work, change the way you communicate. You don't have to be a feared leader", he said.

Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, this number one person in the Surabaya City Government ensures that all levels must be more sensitive in providing services and using empathy in their work. Especially village and sub-districts which are the spearhead of community service.
