Entrance To Other Districts, Wabub Jayawijaya Asks Police To Investigate Embezzlement Of 4 Tons Of Social Assistance Rice

PAPUA - Deputy Regent (Wabub) Jayawijaya, Papua Province, Marthin Yogobi asked the police to investigate allegations of embezzlement of four out of six tons of social assistance rice (bansos) intended for underprivileged communities in seven villages in Wouma District.

This was conveyed by Martin in front of the demonstrators who had been holding an action at the Jayawijaya Regent's Office since this morning. The masses questioned the social assistance, because previously as many as 1,603 received but that number was reduced to 285 people.

"I ask the police, if possible, this case is investigated. The people are traced. This is an entry point for other districts," said the Vice Regent as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 25.

The Deputy Governor also asked the public to make a written report and submit it to the police. Around 300 more demonstrators came to the Jayawijaya Regent's Office this morning.

Previously, demonstrators also held an action at the Wamena Posindo Office. The social service official said that the social assistance rice for Wouma was only 2.5 tons.

However, at the second demonstration which took place at the Jayawijaya Regent's Office and was attended by the deputy regent on Wednesday, the social service official said again that the rice assistance for Wouma was 6 tons.

To the demonstrators and the deputy regent, the social service official said that the social assistance rice was taken or removed from Bulog by the Wouma District Head. The Wouma District Chief, who was at the scene, immediately objected.

According to the district head, the rice was delivered by representatives of the social service to Wouma and left at his house because it was late and there was no district office there.

"After being traced to Bulog, the signatures for the outgoing rice at Bulog are district and district PKH. Finally, it's clear now who signed for releasing rice," he said.

Based on observations, about 300 more of these residents demonstrated safely but almost 99 percent did not wear masks.
