SOLO - The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) Surakarta City, Central Java, took action against vandalism in the form of graffiti on walls containing criticisms of PPKM level 4.

"At the moment, only three have been identified, they are around Legi Market," said Surakarta City Satpol PP Head Arif Darmawan in Solo, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 24.

Arif said that in fact, similar acts of vandalism have been found in a number of corners in Solo City, however, there are only three that contain criticisms of PPKM.

According to him, so far the perpetrators of the vandalism have not been identified. The scribbles in the form of writing have been covered with paint. Mentioned about the next steps, according to him, it is no longer the authority of Satpol PP.

"When it comes to content, we don't have the authority to respond. We only deal with people who scribble inappropriately," said Arif.

He said that so far from previous similar actions, the Satpol PP has given sanctions in the form of summoning the perpetrator and the perpetrator's parents. Next, they were asked to buy paint and repaint the area that had been crossed out.

"Actually, the sanctions according to the regional regulation are three months imprisonment or a maximum fine of Rp. 50 million, but the perpetrators are usually students, so we have administrative sanctions, we call parents, schools, ask the person concerned to repaint, and make a statement," he said.

Arif said that from several cases that have occurred, vandalism is a form of actualization of the emergence of groups or gangs.

"But there are also private ones. Meanwhile, the Legi Market may have something to do with PPKM, it's close to the intercept location, usually there is a spilled market. We have already reported this to Pak Heru (Head of the Surakarta City Trade Office), Secretary and Deputy Mayor," he said.

Meanwhile, Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka said he accepted all criticisms and complaints from the public. However, Gibran asked the public not to make PPKM a burden.

"Every week we continue to provide easing, the situation is getting better, meaning that residents obey the rules. Thank you to the residents for helping to reduce the COVID-19 number in Solo, the BOR (hospital occupancy rate) has decreased, the daily number (COVID-19 cases) has also decreased. "People are enthusiastic about being vaccinated, so the achievement is high. This is all thanks to the help of the residents," he said.
