PKS Criticizes The Government, Implements PPKM Without Clear Targets For Pandemic Management

JAKARTA - Deputy Chair of the PKS Fraction at the DPR RI, Mulyanto, assessed that the extension of the PPKM without targets and indicators of success is proof that the government does not have a clear and measurable pandemic prevention program.

Without these indicators of success, he said, open-close or mutually changing the name of the term PPKM can be perceived as only a government tool to reduce turmoil in society. "Where people are getting tired of facing the COVID-19 pandemic," said Mulyanto, Friday, August 20.

According to Mulyanto, the government should explain the achievement targets in the implementation of each PPKM.

For example, the daily target number of additional positive cases, the daily target positive rate (percentage of positive cases from total testing), to the daily target of decreasing the number of deaths due to COVID-19.

"All that can be calculated and estimated," said a member of Commission VII DPR RI.

With clear indicators, continued Mulyanto, people can assess whether the government is really working on the track to achieve these targets in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic or not.

"The people should not then be subject to various restrictions, but the government does not guarantee the progress of efforts to overcome COVID-19," he said.

Mulyanto also questioned President Jokowi's state speech on August 16, which did not mention the targets for the pandemic response indicators that underlie the 2022 RAPBN. In fact, according to him, the pandemic factor greatly influences the economic growth target for 2022.

"The target for economic growth is set, but the target for overcoming the pandemic is not. This is strange," he said.

Mulyanto views, so far the government is only busy providing various limits to the community, without explaining what targets it wants to achieve. In fact, the government's clear vision on this matter serves as a guide for the community, which can also increase their patience and participation. The community needs the Government's vision of overcoming COVID-19.

Therefore, Mulyanto asked the government to make a roadmap for the prevention of COVID-19. Because with this roadmap, all parties can predict when COVID-19 can be completed and are eager to contribute.

"This is the second year of the pandemic. The government should be able to map out the problem and then draw up a plan to deal with it," he concluded.
