Passengers Bouncing Out, Brimob Truck Transporting Vaccine Participants Experiences Accident On Toll Road

JAKARTA - A police truck containing a group of participants for the COVID-19 vaccination had an accident on the shoulder of the KM 1,800 inner-city toll road, East Jakarta. This accident resulted in six truck passengers had to be rushed to the hospital.

The accident that occurred on Thursday, August 19, caused the body of the truck to be crushed and perforated because it hit a tow truck hard.

Head of Sub-Directorate for Bin Gakkum, Traffic Directorate of Metro Jaya Police, AKBP Fahri Siregar said, this group had just finished undergoing the COVID-19 vaccination in the Kwitang area, Central Jakarta.

"So this car wants to take vaccine participants back to their homes in an area", he told reporters, Thursday, August 19.

Fahri explained that the Brimob truck crashed into a tow truck parked on the shoulder of the road.

Initially, this truck wanted to avoid the tow truck by changing lanes to the right. But because on the right there was a private vehicle passing, in the end, this truck did not have time to change lanes.

"The driver swerved to the left and hit the body of the truck", he said.

Six victims were thrown out of the truck because the left side of the police truck had a hole. The victims were taken to Tebet Hospital, South Jakarta for medical treatment.

"We have evacuated the passengers who survived and there were no injuries. We have also processed the crime scene", he said.
