JAKARTA - The government has relaxed the duration of dine-in at restaurants to food stalls during the extension of PPKM Level 4 to August 23, including in DKI Jakarta.

Previously, the duration of dine-in was limited to a maximum of 20 minutes. Now, the time to eat on the spot is added by 10 minutes, so it becomes 30 minutes.

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria explained the reason. Riza said that the duration of 20 minutes to eat was too fast, especially for the elderly.

"Twenty minutes is not enough time. There are parents who may not be able to eat fast. So, looking for the right number, it turns out to be 30 minutes," Riza told reporters, Wednesday, August 18.

Although there is an easing of meal times, Riza sees it is better for people to buy food to take home. If forced to eat in place, try not to crowd.

"So, we give the opportunity to eat at the place for 30 minutes. But we ask that it is better to eat at home, bring food from home. If you have to eat out, don't gather together, individually," he said.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan issued Governor Decree No. 987 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of PPKM Level 4 COVID-19.

In the gubernatorial decree, Anies extended PPKM Level 4 by increasing the duration of dine-in at restaurants to food stalls to 30 minutes. In the previous PPKM, dine-in was limited to 20 minutes.

This follows the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 34 of 2021 concerning PPKM Lebel 4, Level 3, and Level 2 COVID-19 in the Java and Bali Regions.

"It is allowed to open and operating hours are until 20.00 WIB with a maximum of 3 visitors eating at a place of 3 people and a maximum meal time of 30 minutes with stricter implementation of health protocols," Anies said in the Governor's Decree, quoted on Wednesday, August 18.

Not only that. In the extension of PPKM Level 4 until August 23, Anies also allows restaurants in malls or shopping centers to serve dine-in.

Then, the capacity of visitors in the mall is also increased to a maximum of 50 percent. Likewise, places of worship have been relaxed to 50 percent capacity.

In addition, outdoor sports activities are permitted with capacity restrictions. All activities that are permitted to operate require visitors to have been vaccinated by proving a vaccine certificate through the PeduliLindung application.
