Vice President Ma'ruf Gives 'Tausiyah' To MPR Members, Stops Political Maneuvers And Conflicts Of Interest For Unity

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin gave 'tausiyah' to all members of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) so as not to be disturbed by conflicts of interest and practical politics.

"The Republic of Indonesia's MPR must have a central role as a guardian of the nation's unity and integrity, so that it is maintained and not disrupted by conflicts of interest and practical political maneuvers," said the Vice President while delivering a speech at the virtual commemoration of Constitution Day and the 76th Anniversary of the MPR in Jakarta, Between, Wednesday, August 18th.

Interference with conflicts of interest and practical political maneuvering within the MPR, continued the Vice President, will only weaken the strength, unity and integrity of the Indonesian nation.

As a state institution that carries out the constitutional mandate, the MPR must be able to account for its performance to future generations, said the Vice President.

"Everything that is decided as the bearer of the constitutional mandate will be part of a milestone in the history of the nation's journey and we must be accountable to future generations, as well as to God," he explained.

With such great responsibilities and challenges that are not light, the MPR must be able to prove as a true statesman who has passed on his work and legacy between generations, he emphasized.

The Vice President also congratulated the 76th Anniversary of the MPR and Constitution Day which was held as a momentum to revive the fighting spirit as a strong and united Indonesia.

"The commemoration of this historic day is also a reminder for all nations to return to the constitution as a reference and guide to the state. Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution are guidelines in facing the tough test we are currently experiencing," he said.
