SURABAYA - A total of 13,837 Correctional Inmates (WBP) and Children in East Java get their right in the form of general remission in 2021. Of that number, 432 inmates can be released immediately because they get general remission (RU) II.

"Thousands of people who have received remission are spread over 39 detention centers/prisons in East Java," said Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in East Java, Krismono, Wednesday, August 17.

Krismono explained that currently there are 28,045 WBP and children spread across 39 prisons/remand centers/LPKA throughout East Java. Of that amount, on July 30, 2021, his party sent a proposal of 13,618 WBP and children to get general remission to the Directorate General of Corrections.

"We received a reply in the form of nine collective decrees with a total of 13,837 WBP and children who are entitled to remission," he said.

This difference, continued Krismono, is because the Directorate General of Corrections has reopened the proposal faucet after the initial stage that has been set as of July 30, 2021. It will be reopened until August 5, 2021, especially for urgent proposals.

"There is an addition for RU II, so that automatically the number of proposals and those who receive a remission decree will increase," he said.

The Directorate General of Corrections carries out the recommendations of the KPK. That is, if the WBP and the child are not included in register F (a violation), then they are automatically considered to be of good behavior. "And they are entitled to automatic remission even if it is not proposed by the prison / detention center / LPKA," he said.

However, that number is sure to increase. The reason is, after August 17, 2021, his staff can re-propose for inmates and children who have not received a general remission in 2021.

"They will be classified as follow-up proposals after making some data corrections and fulfilling the requirements according to the provisions," he explained.

In addition to remissions, in 2021, the East Java Regional Office of Kumham has given the rights of WBP and children in the form of assimilation and integration at home. The granting of these rights is in accordance with the mandate of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Number 24 of 2021. The total reaches 5,846 people.

"With details of assimilation as many as 4,193 people and the remaining 1,653 people get integration rights," he said.
