BANDUNG - The Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) or the occupancy rate of COVID-19 referral hospitals in West Java (West Java) has continued to decline since PPKM was implemented on July 3.

After touching 90.91 percent on July 2, 2021, the BOR in West Java is currently around 29 percent.

West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, who is fondly called Kang Emil, said the reduction in BOR could not be separated from the efforts of all parties, from the provincial, district/city governments, hospitals, TNI, Polri, to the community, in strengthening health facilities during PPKM.

The intense handling of COVID-19, said Ridwan Kamil, will be accompanied by the acceleration and expansion of the COVID-19 vaccination. Currently, the injection of the COVID-19 vaccine in West Java has reached 200,000 thousand doses per day.

"The good news today is that West Java has 200,000 vaccinations per day. The highest in Indonesia," said Ridwan Kamil, in Bandung, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 17.

According to Kang Emil, his party will continue to increase the scope of injecting COVID-19 vaccines to 400,000 doses per day. This is done so that the target of establishing communal immunity or herd immunity by the end of 2021 can be realized.

"Our target is 400 thousand per day so that December will finish with a record that the vaccine quota for us is 15 million per month, which can be met by the Ministry of Health," he said.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment as well as the Coordinator of the Java-Bali PPKM Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan appreciated the decrease in BOR in West Java.

"Thank you, Governor, I see that the numbers in West Java are spectacularly improving, especially the BOR," said Luhut.

Since PPKM was implemented, according to Luhut, positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 and active cases have continued to decline. "I think conditions in Java-Bali continue to improve, confirmed cases are down 76 percent and active cases are down 53 percent from their peak. But we must remain vigilant," he said.

Luhut asked the regions to maximize the treatment of COVID-19 patients in centralized isolation areas (isoters) so that they could be handled better.

He said that if 75 percent of isoman patients could be transferred to isoters, the cases would be more under control.

"If 75 percent of the isoman can be transferred to the isoter, it will certainly be controlled, for that I ask everyone's attention so that the isoter is carried out massively," he said.

Luhut reported that currently, the mortality of isoman patients is still relatively high, including deaths in pregnant women due to the delta variant.

"There is a tendency for the death of pregnant women due to the delta variant, yesterday the President gave directions so that there is an isoter for pregnant women," he said.
