Outdoor Sports Are Allowed During Java-Bali Community Activity Restrictions, But It Is Required To Wear Masks

JAKARTA - The government has extended Level 4, 3, and 2 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Java and Bali for the next week. In the extension of this PPKM, the government allows outdoor sports activities.

However, there are a number of rules that must be observed. In the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 34 of 2021, not all of these outdoor sports trials were implemented in Java and Bali but were carried out in four agglomerations in Java-Bali at Level 4 PPKM.

"Especially for the Greater Jakarta, Greater Bandung, Semarang, and Greater Surabaya areas, a trial of health protocols for sports activities has been carried out", said Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian in the Ministry of Home Affairs, quoted on Tuesday, August 17.

In addition to the four Java-Bali agglomerations, sports activities in open spaces have also been allowed in regencies/cities that implement Level 3 PPKM. Meanwhile, Level 2 PPKM areas may hold sports activities, both outdoors and indoors with a capacity of 25 percent.

The stipulation is that outdoor sports players are required to wear a mask during exercise, except for swimming. "Masks must be worn during sports activities, except for sports activities that require removing masks, such as swimming. For sports activities that require removing masks, masks can only be removed when carrying out sports activities", said Tito.

Then, outdoor sports activities are carried out by a maximum of 4 people per group, do not involve physical contact with other people, and do not routinely require close individual interactions.

Outdoor sports facilities are allowed to open with 25 people from the maximum capacity. Temperature checks must also be carried out on everyone who enters sports facilities.

"Restaurants and cafes within sports facilities are not allowed to accept meals on the spot. Supporting facilities such as lockers and showers are not allowed to be used except for toilet access", said Tito.

Tito emphasized that users of sports facilities are not allowed to gather before or after doing sports activities and must keep their distance.

Screening for visitors at sports facilities must use the PeduliLindung application. Thus, only people who have been vaccinated are allowed to carry out outdoor sports activities.

"Sports facilities that violate health protocols will be subject to sanctions in the form of temporary closures", he concluded.
