COVID-19 Update As Of August 16: New Cases 17,384 From Examination Of 129,010 Specimens

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 129,010 specimens were examined with the result that there were 17,384 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 3,871,738 people and active cases as many as 371,021 people", said Ministry of Health data, Monday, August 16.

Today's recovered cases increased by 29,925 cases, bringing the total to 3,381,884 recovered people. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 1,245 people and a total of 118,833 people.

The province with the newest cases was in Central Java with 3,803 cases and a total of 450,926 cases. Followed by West Java which has 2,095 new cases with a total of 657,135 cases. East Java has 1,559 new cases and a total of 359,597 cases. Then, Bali has 888 new cases and a total of 96,915 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to West Java with an additional 4,157 recovered cases. Followed by Central Java with an increase of 4,115 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 3,784 recovered cases, and East Kalimantan with an additional 1,892 recovered cases.

No province has reported any new cases as of today. In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 29,476,878.

"Positive results per person examined or the positivity rate of people this week is 21.72 percent", he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases was recorded at 306,164 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

So far, 54,382,680 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 28,524,986 people have received the second dose of vaccination. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
