MPR Annual Session Held With Strict Proces, Madam: Finished At 12.00 WIB

JAKARTA - The Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, has confirmed that the MPR Annual Session, the Joint Session of the DPR-DPD, and the President's State Speech on Monday, August 16 will be carried out by implementing strict health protocols (prokes).

According to him, the annual event will be physically attended by only 60 people and other invitees will attend virtually.

"This is the second year that we are holding this annual session with strict procedures. Of course, it is hoped that everything will go better," said Puan in a statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Sunday, August 15.

This was said by Puan after attending a dress rehearsal for the preparation of the MPR Annual Session, the DPR-DPD Joint Session, and the President's State Speech, at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta.

He said that he was present at the dress rehearsal to check the readiness of the parliament for the implementation of the MPR Annual Session, the DPR-DPD Joint Session, and the President's State Speech.

"We want to make sure everything for tomorrow's state event is ready, so it can run smoothly, physically and virtually," he said.

Puan did a dress rehearsal in the second session of the event, where she prepared the delivery of the Opening Speech for the First Session of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2021-2022 Session Year.

He will also officially receive the Bill on the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2022 along with the Financial Note and supporting documents from President Joko Widodo.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) said that the state event in Parliament this year was shorter, because the interval between the first and second sessions was only a matter of minutes.

"At around 12 o'clock the event is scheduled to be finished. I as the chairman of the DPR RI will close it," he said.
