BANJARMASIN - Banjarmasin Deputy Chief of Police, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Sabana Atmojo paid off a debt worth Rp11 million for a resident who was undergoing self-isolation due to exposure to COVID-19.

It is a woman named Hamdiah (41), a resident of the Fadhillah Perdana Complex, Kertak Hanyar District, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan who was assisted by the Deputy Chief of Police to pay off all her life dependents due to being in debt.

"Thank God all my debts were paid off, Mr. Sabana. I owe someone Rp7 million. There is also a motorcycle installment of almost Rp4 million," Hamdiah said in Banjarmasin, quoted by Antara, Saturday, August 14.

Hamdiah admitted that she also felt the kindness of Sabana so caring when she was exposed to COVID-19. She received a shipment of vitamins and medicine while she was self-isolating at home.

"Hopefully his kindness will be rewarded multiplied by Allah SWT. I don't know how to repay him," she said full of emotion.

This mother of two children works as a mobile laundry worker at the Bina Brata Police Dormitory Complex, East Banjarmasin. However, due to contracting COVID-19, she was unable to earn a living for her family.

Meanwhile, Banjarmasin Deputy Chief of Police Sabana Atmojo asked Hamdiah to focus on recovering from COVID-19 without having to think about the burden of her debt.

"God willing, my intention is only to help people in need. Hopefully, he and his family can recover soon and can return to their normal activities," said the man who once served as Head of the Hulu Sungai Tengah Police.
