JAKARTA - The survey institute Charta Politica Indonesia released the results of a survey on satisfaction with the government's performance and the current state of law enforcement in Indonesia.

Executive Director of Charta Politica, Yunarto Wijaya, said as many as 53 percent of respondents rated the current eradication of corruption as bad and very bad. Meanwhile, as many as 44 percent considered the eradication of corruption to be good and very good. In addition, 3 percent said they did not know or did not answer.

"The assessment of eradicating corruption in Indonesia is still considered bad by the public. This is also a bigger PR because the number of those stating bad and very bad is above very good and good. Bad ratings are much higher", Yunarto said in a virtual press conference, Thursday, August 12.

Meanwhile, respondents' responses to the current state of law enforcement are divided. As many as 49.5 percent of respondents said very well and good. Meanwhile, 47.3 percent of respondents rated Indonesia's law enforcement as bad and very bad.

Although good ratings have slightly higher numbers, Yunarto said the government has a big homework to do to fix the legal conditions in Indonesia. Because he considers that currently respondents are much more daring to state that the legal conditions in Indonesia are bad.

"47.3 rated it bad, meaning that the tendency to dare to say this is bad is greater. Previously, people tended to not answer or not respond. There is a very large PR even compared to the economy", he said.

Moreover, there is a downward trend in the assessment of people who consider law enforcement in Indonesia to be in good condition.

As of February 2020, the assumption that law enforcement is in good condition is 59.8 percent, then in July 2020, it is 55.2 percent. The figure increased slightly as of January 2021 by 57.2 percent. However, the figure decreased again as of July 2021 by 49.5 percent.

"The condition of law enforcement in Indonesia is considered very bad and has decreased compared to the previous survey period", said Yunarto.

For information, this survey was conducted in the range of 12 to 20 July 2021. The sample was selected completely at random using the multistage random sampling method.

Respondents who took part in the survey were 1,200 people with a margin of error of around 2.83 percent at a confidence level of 95 percent.
